Learning How to Swim (Akira)

[Night]

Tai'n nudged Braith along the outskirts of the Weyr. It was a nice day, warm and sunny and he planned to use it. Skye chirped from his shoulder, the blue flit fanning out his wings to catch the sunlight. He was happy to be outside too. Looking from one to the other, the weyrling smiled at how similiar the two bondeds were. Braith with his dappled sky blue hide, and Skye with his silky equally pale coloring. Perhaps he'd impress another blue flit sometime. After all, wasn't a green rising soon? Or was that one of the dragons? He could never remember.

One day we'll chase them right? Braith looked up at his weyrling. Tai'n didn't know what to say at first, and opened his mouth in shock. Did he really want to talk to his dragonet about mating flights right now? Nope! "Hey Braith, my buddy!" Smiling and laughing, Tai'n ran forward. "Look boy, we're here finally." The discussion avoided, Tai'n breathed a sigh of relief to see his blue waddle up to the Weyrlake. What do I do here? The blue sniffed at the water, snaking out his tongue to lap at the cool liquid. It tastes good!

Laughing, Tai'n nodded his head. "Yeah it does." Looking around, the weyrling took off his shirt and wadded into the shallows. Come on you. Time to learn how to swim. The blue flared out his wings and ran in a circle, excited to be learning something new. Swim, swim, swim...what's swim?!? The dragonet cocked his head to the side as he asked the question. Biting his lip, Tai'n finally answered. "It's like flying but in the water." Moving over to the blue, Tai'n lead him into the shallows and showed him how to paddle. Soon, Braith was doing it all by himself and was diving below the surface.

[Akira]

Even though Akira knew that they weren't supposed to leave the Weyr, she wanted to go swimming with Amaranth, and she didn't think that going outside to the Lake would get her in a lot of trouble. She smiled as she watched her garnet dragoness running around chasing her blue flit. Alright you two, don't go too far away. Her voice was gentle, and full of love as she spoke to her two bondeds, who crooned at her before continueing their game. She shook her head as she watched them, and smiled when she noticed that they had already reached the Lake. From what Akira could see, the three of them were the only one's here. Well, I guess that's a good thing huh? She rolled her eyes when she noticed that she was being ignored by both her dragon, and her firelizard.

Alright you two, get over here. Her voice was stern, but not enough to scare her friends, and they obediantly made their way over to Akira. She changed into her swimming clothes, and slowly led Amaranth into the water. She smiled and laughed as she watched her dragoness take to the water like a bird to the sky. It seemed like Amaranth was born to swim, and soon enough, Milo joined the garnet dragon in her game of diving under the water's surface, and then surfacing with a splash. Akira laughed as she watched them. She started to swim around, keeping an eye on the pair as they continued their game. She wasn't sure how long they would be able to stay out here, before they would have to go back inside, or risk being found out.

[Night]

Braith heard the others before Tai'n did, but that didn't mean that either the dragonet or weyrling knew who it was. Nuzzling his rider, the blue pushed Tai'n behind some rocks to hide. After all, it could be the poisoner here to dump the newest body. Visions of death and misdeeds flew through Tai'n's mind to his flit's and dragonet's. Of course soon enough a red shape was seen followed by Akira. Oh Mine! How silly of us. It is just my sister and Hers. Oh hello sister and Hers!

Tai'n clapped a hand over his face and groaned. Seriously Braith? The rider rolled his eyes and looked at the weyrling pair, blushing a bit at seeing Akira in her swim clothes. Though it probably wouldn't have been as much as if he'd seen another boy. Wait, not thinking about that Tai'n, bad! Shaking his head, the weyrling swam out to the girl and Garnet, leaving Braith very confused. Shaking the confusion off though, the blue followed his rider. So, I suppose we weren't the only ones to want to get out? Braith thought the message to the red dragonet near him. "Couldn't stay inside either could you?" Tai'n smirked a bit as he looked in Akira's direction. Though not directly at her, that would be a bit rude wouldn't it?

[Akira]

Akira smiled and laughed at her dragon and firelizard as they chased each other in and out of the water. Akiramine, Braith and His are here. Unfortunately Akira wasn't paying attention, and when she heard someone else she freaked, and hid behind her dragon. Amaranth crooned to her rider, confused at her actions. Greetings brother, and greetings His. Amaranth was still a little preocupide trying to figure out why Hers was hiding from her brother and His. Akira waved a little shyly from her spot behind Amaranth. The girl used her dragon to keep her body hidden from the other weyrling. I wonder what he saw. She put a hand on Amaranth's mouth before the dragon could announce her thoughts to anyone that wanted to listen.

Hi Tia'n, I guess not. She was thankfull that he had turned his head away from her, especially since her swimming shirt was white, and did very little to hide what was beneath it, which was actually another shirt, only this one was brown. There was no way she could hide the bright red that her cheeks truned though. Milo chirped at His, and then at the other Large One like His' other. He slowly swam his way over to the other blue, and chirped at him once again. Milo, be nice. The flit crooned when he heard his name, and swam back over to the red one that His had impressed, not really knowing what was going on.

[Night]

Tai'n felt bad for putting Akira in this situation, but it wasn't too bad. After all in the dark they couldn't really see each other. "So how is she doing? I swear these things eat endlessly. Not to mention when they're not eating they need to be oiled." Laughing, the weyrling rubbed Braith's neck affectionately. Now, now Tai'n my boy! That's not fair! Also, my you're looking fine in this moonlight Amaranth. It brings out those garnet hues beautifully. Shaking his head, Tai'n tried to apologize for his dragonet's flirting, but couldn't think of the right words.

Nothing wrong with complimenting a lady on her beauty. You should be doing the same with Amaranth's Own. After all, a beautiful dragoness only deserves the best rider am I right? "I am so sorry. He needs to be quiet." Braith snorted and flicked his wings, splashing Tai'n with water. "No fair you!" The boy hissed between his teeth to keep quiet. Splashing the blue back, Tai'n smirked finally happy. In truth he didn't mind the blue flirting so much, though it did embaress him a bit. Braith wasn't actually adressing Akira, just her dragon. Sure he'd mentioned the rider, but that was only to compliment the dragon on her choice.

Braith was honestly a bit shy of the other weyrling, and it showed in the way he kept away from her and either toward Amaranth of His. Skye on the other hand had no such trouble flirting. Trilling happily, he went over to Milo and Amaranth, moving to land on the Garnet's back. Sure this was a dragon and a male flit, but they were PRETTY! He liked pretty! Crooning happily, the flit showed off for the two by striking a handsome pose...or at least he thought it was.

[Akira]

Akira was thankful that it was dark out, it helped her hide her embarassment. Amaranth shook her head and swam away from her rider. Akiramine, you should go see Braith's. Akira glared after her garnet dragon, and sighed in defeat. She decided it couldn't hurt if she swam just a little closer to the other weyrling pair. She's doing well, though, it seems like I can never keep her full, or oiled. I think I'm going to have to start feeding her while I oil her. She giggled a little as she spoke about feeding and oiling her dragoness at the same time. Amaranth thought that might be a good idea as well because she crooned happily at the thought of eating and having Hers' oil her all at the same time.

Amaranth crooned at Braith's compliment. Thank you Braith. The moonlight makes her light blue spots stand out handsomly. The garnet dragon rumbled with laughter at Braith's words. Akira couldn't help but giggle when Braith splashed his rider. Milo chirped playfully at the other blue firelizard when it landed on His' Large One. Amaranth turned her head around to try to look at the flit that had landed on her back. She flicked her tail, and sniffed the blue firelizard. It smelled differant than the flit that was almost always with her and Hers, and she wondered who it was. Akira sighed, and shook her head as she watched her dragon and firelizard's antics. Well, at least they all get along pretty well. Akria couldn't keep the laughter out of her voice as she spoke.

[Night]

Tai'n had to agree with Akira there. They all did get along pretty well as long as her flit and dragon didn't mind his flirting duo. Looking up at the stars, the boy sighed. It was good to be outside finally. "I wonder how much longer they'll have us stay on lock down...not that it really stopped us right?" Laughing softly, Tai'n swam around a bit and scrubbed at his hair. He missed those days in the lake with Freya and the rest of his "siblings."

"Do you have anyone you're missing?" The weyrling was surprised by the question he asked. He hadn't meant to, he just wanted to know he wasn't the only one missing his family despite his impression. Hey Mine. Just because you have me doesn't mean you can't have the others too. Braith waded over to His and nuzzled the rider. His blue hide really did sparkle in the moonlight like Amaranth said, and Tai'n scratched at some of the itchier spots making the blue croon. Shifting his glance to Akira suddenly, the weyrling splashed water in her direction, a smirk on his face. "Just because you've got a female that can clutch doesn't mean you'll turn into one of those girls who's all stuck up right?"

[Akira]

Akira shook her head when she heard Tia'n's words. I'm not sure, but from what I've heard, Sitka is going to keep the Weyr locked until they find whomever poisoned the soup. Though, I wonder how many of the others are going to sneak out like this. Her voice was quiet as she stared up at the sky. She started wondering if her parents were up there, like some of the drudges said the dead went. She had heard them say that people went to some place above the stars when they died. Akira jumped when she heard the other weyrling's question. Yeah...my parents. She sighed and looked away from the stars. There was no point in fussing over the past. She couldn't change it, all she could do is worry about the present.

Akiramine do I not make you happy? Amaranth's normally happy voice was now upset. Yes you do Amaranth, you make me very happy. The garnet dragon perked up as soon as she heard that she made her rider happy, and she crooned. Akira spluttered when Tia'n splashed her with water. Hey! That's a cheap shot! She laughed and splashed him back. Amaranth barked in suprise when Hers started splashing the other weyrling. She swam away from her rider a little, before turning, and watching the two human's once more. Who ever said she could clutch? Who says that she won't chew firestone, and be a fighter? Though, I don't think I'll be one of those girls. She was a little indignant, and it came through into her voice, as she spoke.

[Night]

"Cheap maybe, but definitely fair!" Splashing the girl again while laughing, Tai'n received a mouthfull of water and sputtered while choking it out. "Okay, that wasn't so fun." Still the boy was smiling despite his coughing. Shaking his head he rolled his eyes at Akira's comment about her dragon. "No one said anything, but look at her Aki. She's as big as some of the brown dragonets are. Do you really think she won't be able to clutch? Either way, it's your choice entirely whether or not she chews. I'm just glad you're going to stay yourself. It'd be shame otherwise."

Braith crooned in agreement before nuzzling His', the movement just hard enough to make Tai'n trip. "Hey!" The boy complained as he came back up coughing water again. "That's totally not fair!" Laughing, Tai'n splashed the blue in retaliation. Skye simply shook his head and chittered. His was strange tonight. Generally the boy wasn't so forward with anyone. Fluttering his mix-of-blues wings, the firelizard took to the skies and started to seek out fish. He was hungry!

[Akira]

Akira covered her face when the other weyrling splashed her once again, and couldn't help but laugh at the way he sputtered and choked on the mouthful of water he got from being splashed. Serves you right! She made sure to keep her voice quiet enough so as not to draw attention from people inside the Weyr. She looked at Amaranth when he spoke of the dragoness's size. Yes, she was large, but did that mean that she would be a clutcher? She shook her head, she didn't want to think about what would happen when her dragon matured, and rose for the first time. She turned and looked at the other weyrling when he said he was glad that she was staying the same.

What's that supposed to mean? She wasn't sure she wanted to know the answer to that question, but she had asked it anyways. Akiramine, I'm tired. Alright Ama. She's finally tired, so we're going to go. See you tomorrow Tia'n. She smiled and waved as she started wading back to the shore. She whistled for Milo, who chirped and flew to her shoulder, getting it wetter than it had been. Good night Braith and His. Amaranth's clear voice rang out in the mind of her clutchmate, and his rider, before she followed her own rider back to shore. It was obvious that the large dragonet was tired because of how slowly she moved. After a good night's rest, and about three bucket's of meat, she would be ready to go once again.
