More Firelizards!?

K'lin had just finished putting away his cleaning supplies when he heard Iris fluttering around. What is it Iris? He turned around to look at his green firelizard, and realized she was looking for a place to clutch her eggs. He started glancing around, looking around for something for her to put her eggs in. HAH! He practically screamed when he found a basket with some clean rags in them. He picked up the basket, and quickly put it on the table.

Iris crooned as Her's brought her a safe place for her eggs. She made herself comfortable, and started working on the hardest work she had ever had to do in her two turns of life. She crooned happily when she finally finished clutching her eggs. She scrutinized them thoroughly. She moved one egg, a very bright green egg with strange, dark green zig-zags on the shell, so that it was in front of her green wing. Before she could move any more, K'lin accidentally bumped the table that had the basket of eggs, and two of them fell out, breaking open as soon as they hit the hard floor.

Iris wailed loudly when she heard her eggs break, and K'lin's eyes opened as wide as they could in shock. He slowly backed away from the green flit who looked like she was ready to rip his throat out. That truly was what she wanted to do to him, but she had six more eggs to protect, and she couldn't be bothered with the human that had killed two of her children. She keened and mewled for her two broken eggs. She knew there was nothing she could do for them now, and went back to taking care of her remaining eggs.

K'lin blinked back the tears that had formed in his eyes because of his mistake. He grabbed some cleaning supplies, and went about cleaning up the mess that the broken eggs had caused. I'm so sorry Iris. He wasn't surprised in the least when the green firelizard ignored him. He shook his head, and finished cleaning up the mess he had caused. He hoped that no one had heard the firelizard's keening, but wouldn't be surprised if a drudge or two had heard.

Iris went about moving around her remaining eggs, and soon was so occupied, that she forgot about what had happened. She curled up protectively around her eggs, making sure that each one had enough space so that they wouldn't be too close together when they hatched, that it caused problems for the hatchlings. She crooned softly, and soon was sleeping curled around her clutch. K'lin sighed, and pulled up a chair.

Hey Bearith, you wanna let everyone know that Iris has clutched? He made sure that his thoughts didn't disturb the sleeping green. He wasn't exactly sure what everyone would do, but he hoped that all of Iris' eggs got a safe home with someone in the Weyr. At this point in time he didn't really care who got which egg. They all looked like they would either be blue's or greens, so he wasn't sure who all would turn up.

Her eggs won't hatch until either Sunday or Monday, after Marquitth's eggs hatch. I will start up a thread for the flit egg hatching, so that everyone who takes one, can just reply to that thread, and receive their hatchlings. This is set up just like the wild flit clutch, so just reply here, and in an OOC note, let me know which egg you want.

Navir had just finished drying his hands, having had morning chores in that stationed him washing sink. He didn't know how the Weyr caused so many dirty dishes! He swore, his hands would be pruned for weeks. Dorian and Iota has enjoyed his time in the kitchen - flinching bits of bread dough and raw meat leftovers from the preparations for Dinner.

"Come on you two little thieves, lets get out of here." Iota responded instantly, chirping happily as the Green settled down on the boy's shoulder. Dorian was a little slower, taking a moment or two to clean the sticky sweetbun dough off his claws before taking flight after his little green sweetie. Navir held his arm up for Dorian to land on - that was when the keen hit him.

Dorian back-winged, squealing a little in reply, the Brown startled. Iota shivered, burying herself into his neck; Navir coaxed Dorian into his hand, then headed into the other room. He stopped at the door, peering in to see K'lin sitting in a chair looking very, very upset. "K'lin?" Navir really hadn't gotten to know the man all that well, basicly name and dragon only, and Nivar felt a little strange just marching into the room.

Taking a step in though, Navir did notice the Green resting in the basket, lowing his voice as he moved slowly up next to the other boy. "Whats goin on? That noise.. is Iris okay?" Dorian leaned out from Navir's arm, chirping softly, while Iota tried to vanish someplace into Navir's shirt collar.

(OOC: You looked lonely, and I hope this stirs up a little interest in cute Iris's eggs :) Toss my name on... egg #2, can't let them go without someone to claim them)

The twenty-three year old man sighed, and put his head in his hands, his elbows on his knees. LinMine it will be alright. Little Green and her eggs will be ok.[/b] K'lin smiled when he heard his dragon's voice. He had been bonded with Bearith for four turns now, and could remember the day he had impressed the strange looking blue. Thanks Bear. He could practically feel his dragon crooning. He had to admit, talking with his dragon had made him feel a little better, and at least there were still six eggs left.

From what K'lin knew, that was very good for a green. K'lin looked up when he heard his name. It was one of the candidates. He wasn't exactly sure which one it was, he was the assistant weyrling master after all. Iris is just fine young one. We just had an accident with a couple of her eggs, but, there are still six left, if you would like one. I'm sure I could wrap it up for you if you would like. He wasn't exactly sure how his green flit would react if someone else were to approach her eggs.

[Night]

Tai'n was tired after his weyrling lesson and oiling Braith. The blue was growing ever faster and that meant more and more of him to clean. Of course it wasn't all bad. He enjoyed spending time shining the dappled hide it just was time consuming. For once he was glad he impressed a smaller color, though as long as it was male he wasn't picky. For the time being his secret would be kept as such. At this time the weyrling was meandering around the riders' Weyrs. He just wanted to get the idea for when it would turn into his own place of living. After all that was only a turn and a half away or a bit more right? He wondered what it would be like then.

Skye chirped from His shoulder the. The blue flit straightened unsure of his surrounding since he first woke up. Coming to his senses the blue crooned and stretched his wings though the body soon turned stiff. Glancing at the firelizards curiously Tai'n reached out to Braith to check if the dragonet was okay. After all they had the poisoner still here. He was fine though, curled up sleeping in a warm place. Smiling to himself Tai'n couldn't help laughing slightly. What could have set off Skye then? The image of eggs popped into the weyrling's mind. Oh! Setting for the nearby Weyr Tai surveyed the little clutch. "Hi there. I'm Tai'n of Blue Braith. A weyrling. Are they for the taking or even sale? I'd love that one."

Navir frowned, looking from the man to the little Green resting in the basket. She seemed okay - still, he couldn't help feel bad for her. A accident? Well, at least she still had six, correct? It was a pretty little clutch, the eggs shining like gems next to the little Flit.

The man's offer was one that the boy couldn't turn down; this little green had been fairly friendly from what Navir had seen. One of her little ones would have a chance to be the same way, right? He smiled, turning to speak when Tai'n arrived. The candidate frowned a little at the boy's words, but kept the thoughts to himself. After Tai'n finished, Navir gave a little bow to K'lin and smiled.

"If little miss Iris wouldn't mind, Sir, I would love one. We are always looking for new friends, right Dorian?" The Brown cooed, looking at K'lin with curious eyes. "It don't have to take it right now though, if she isn't up to parting with them sure. Um..." Navir turned, looking over the clutch of tiny eggs, but not getting too close. After a moment, he pointed slight at one of the eggs. "I would like that one, Sir - the one tucked back resting against her belly, toward the flank."

Dorion looked over from Navir's other arm, giving a little chirp of approval. Iota's head appeared from inside Navir's collar, little noises seeming to draw her attention enough to make her come out from hiding for the moment.

K'lin smiled as one of the weyrlings arived. Hello Tia'n, I know you and Braith. Of course he knew them, he had given them their first lesson after all. He looked over at the egg that the weyrling had pointed to, and grinned. It was the third largest egg of Iris' clutch. It was a beautiful, light blue in color, and had a steel blue circle around it's top. They are for free, and I'll wrap it up for you. He smiled at the weyrling as he spoke. he wasn't exactly sure how Iris would react to him taking her eggs.

Since she hadn't shown much intrest in this large egg, he had a feeling she wouldn't mind. He reached into the basket, and Iris growled her warning, but since he didn't go after the small green egg that she had hidden up under her wing, she let him take the blue egg. He wrapped the egg in a soft blanket, making sure that no harm would come to the egg, he handed it to Tia'n. You make sure that the flit inside that egg has a good home Tia'n. He voice was serious, he wanted to make sure his firelizard's eggs were going to good homes.

Iris crooned as K'lin took one of her eggs. She wasn't exactly upset that it was going to the weyrling, but she wasn't a firelizard that liked to say good-bye. She turned her head, and lifted her wing, revealing the tiny egg that she had tucked protectively under her wing. K'lin nodded at Navir's words, and looked at the one he had pointed to. Well, we won't know unless we try. He smiled, and cautiously reached his hand into Iris' basket, hoping she wouldn't try to take his hand off.

Iris watched K'lin's hand as he reached for the sky blue egg. She didn't really mind him taking it, but she did growl another warning to him, letting him knew that she wasn't going to let him take her little green egg. K'lin rolled his eyes, and wrapped the blue egg just like he wrapped the first egg, and handed it to Navir. Hey, would you guys let me know when they hatch? I would like to see Iris' kids. He smiled lovingly at his green firelizard as he spoke, and wondered if any of them would be like her.

[Night]

Tai'n nodded his head. Yes, he knew that this rider was his weyrling master of course. He just wasn't aware that he was so memorable. Well there is only a handful of us in the group Tai'nMine. Yawning wide, Braith crooned and shuffled. Where are you? The blue looked around for His, but didn't see him. I'm at K'lin's getting us a new flit. The blue dragon nodded his head sleepily and tucked it under his wing again. Alright, bring it back here soon so I can see it. With that the dragonet fell asleep again.

Shaking his head, Tai'n laughed. "Sorry Braith was being himself again. They always seem to sleep and eat and then do it over again. That's babies though I suppose. Don't worry I'll take good care of it. I did with Skye, and I certainly hope I am with Braith." Skye chirped from His shoulder at the mention of his name. Eying the pretty green nearby, he crooned affectionately. "Hey! That's not the time to be flirting you insane blue." Shaking his head again for an entirely different reason now, Tai'n took the wrapped egg carefully. "Thank you Iris. I'll give your child the best home I can."

Navir smiled, watching as the Rider collected the eggs that he and Tia'n had picked, wrapping them up ever so gently - it was clear the man cared very much about the little Flits within. It made Navir feel even more on honored that the man would trust him with one of Iris's little beauties.

He took the wrapped egg with a gentle touch, his fingers curling around to brush the soft fabric that it rested in. It was warm - the slight weight in his palm made him want to curl his other hand around it to keep it safe. Dorian, resting on his forearm, leaned forward to sniff at the item in the boy's hand. The Brown cooed gently, once to the egg, then once to the Green resting in the basket, as if to tell Iris he would watch the egg for her now that it was in Navir's possession.

"Of course, K'lin, and thank you - as soon as it hatches, we will come to show the baby to you." Navir watched the little flit in her basket with her remaining eggs, smiling. "And thank you to you too, Miss Iris - I promise we'll take good care of it." After a moment, Navir cupped his hands around the egg and gave a laugh. "Looks like Iris plans to keep that green one - she seems likely to take your finger off if you try to take it. You'll have to tell me what it hatches into; I'm dying to know with the way she's protecting it."

K'lin smiled and nodded at Tia'n's words. That pattern won't change much when they mature either. He chuckled when he felt Bearith growl at him. He knew the dragon wouldn't do anything to him, and he also knew that Bearith knew he was just teasing. Iris hissed at Skye, and rustled her wings at the blue. There was no way she was going to let that...that...THING!! Anywhere near her precious eggs, it was bad enough that Hers had given one of her eggs to the blue's person.

K'lin rolled his eyes at his green. He knew she wouldn't do anything to Tia'n, but he couldn't say what she would do to the blue. Iris just gave the brown a sideways glance before turning her attention back to her eggs. To tell you the truth, I think it's going to be a green like her. She was the smallest of her clutch, and I think that's why she's so protective of that egg. To tell the truth, K'lin though she should be more protective of one of the larger ones, but that was him, not his firelizard.

Thank you, and I'm sure Iris is grateful too, even though she doesn't act like it. He smiled down at his green, and then at the two people who were now in possesion of two of her eggs. If K'lin had to guess what was in the eggs just by their color, he would guess that each boy had taken a blue. Yet there was no way to know for sure until they hatched. He shook his head, and just smiled at his firelizard, thoughts of what would come from her eggs plaguing his mind.

Zanira poked her head in, her eyes glistening as she then slipped into the room. Upon her shoulder was Ruby whom looked rather interested in what was going on around her, her tail wrapped casually around her person's neck as her eyes instantly went toward the eggs with an inquisitive sound. The candidate master chuckled at the garnet's reaction, and lifted her hand up to scratch at the female's neck to give her some attention as she looked at the eggs that where on offer to her. It was quite a nice looking clutch and she took her time as she decided what egg to pick, after all she was going to have to take care of the firelizard for as long as it lived.

Eventually she seemed to make a choice, her hand motioning toward the New Moon Egg with a smile "I hope you don't mind if I have that one, I promise that I'll take good care of whatever hatches from it". Ruby piped up with a chirp, as if to affirm that Zahia was true to her word and was a very good mistress indeed! It was enough to make Zahia chuckle in amusement.

K'lin looked over as someone else entered the room. He smiled when he recognized the candidate master. Greetings Zanira, and I'll see if Iris won't mind. He had a feeling that his green flit wouldn't like him trying to take the smallest egg of the clutch. She had already shown them that she wasn't going to be happy about it. Alright, here we go... He was actually dreading trying to separate his firelizard from her egg.

K'lin reached in, and Iris watched his hand with an unblinking gaze as he slowly brought his hand closer to her egg. She started growling, and when he still didn't back away from her egg, she started to hiss. What did he think he was doing? That's when she heard the other female firelizard. She turned her attention towards the other female, and hissed loudly, rustling her wings at the same time.

Iris didn't want that other female anywhere near her eggs. K'lin took that opportunity to snatch the egg away from it's mother. Iris barked in suprise when Hers' took the egg out from under her wing. She started wailing, and moaning, and pacingin circles around her eggs. She moved them all so that they were now in a tight circle, and wrapped her body around them, doing her best to hide them from everyone, and everything.

K'lin was sad that he had taken the egg from Iris, but there was no way he was going to let her keep it, and let it go wild. He wanted to give the little flit a chance. He wrapped up the egg carefully, and handed it to Zanira. Sorry about that, I know you'll give this little flit a good home. He smiled as he spoke. He then turned his attention back to Iris, and tried sending her happy feelings, she crooned a little sadly, but he knew that she understood why he did it.

[Night]

Zorasn hadn't been at the Weyr for long, the candidate not sure of where exactly he was going stumbled onto the rider's weyr. Looking in, the young man saw the different people getting packages wrapped up in blankets. What was going on? Shadow panted beside his legs, the fairly large canine cocking his head to the side and whimpering. Looking up at Master, Shadow nuzzled against Zorasn's side. "Easy boy...I'll find out." Walking inside, pretty confident for someone who didn't know anyone, Zorasn smiled at the people he went by. "Hi, what's going on....oh firelizard eggs!"

The candidate looked over at the green firelizard. Signaling to Shadow to stay at the door as to not scare the already unhappy flit, Zorasn looked at the two left over eggs. He liked them both, but he wasn't sure which one he'd want to take. "If you'd let me I'd love to take that one there." He looked at the egg, then back at his canine who raised up more to see the one he pointed at. Even from the door, Shadow could sense as all animals could that the object had a living thing inside it. Barking once, the canine lay down on the floor, wagging his curved silver and white tail. "Yeah, seems like he wants that one too."
