Alietran has undergone some necessary changes in government, but so far it has still stayed relatively close to the usual Pernese style of leadership.
Weyrwoman
With no golds left, there are no senior or junior weyrwoman. Instead, their duties are divided up among the members of the Rising Tides wing, the former Queens' wing now made up of clutching dragons. Greens and greys who have chosen not to chew firestone fight in Rising Tides with flamethrowers, and their riders take on the duties of weyrwomen. Silvers, since they are incapable of chewing firestone, are likewise part of Rising Tides. Since their clutching ability is not affected by firestone, garnets can either join Rising Tides or one of the regular wings. Garnetriders can pursue a wingrider or wingsecond position in a fighting wing or become a member of Rising Tides and share in the weyrwoman duties.
Among the riders of Rising Tides, most issues that come up are decided by committee, but when a quick decision is needed, or a tie needs to be broken, it is left up to the wingleader. The "senior weyrwoman" position has become the wingleader of the Queens' wing. The position is decided every two turns; each rider whose dragon has had at least one clutch puts in their name and the wingleader is decided by lots.
Weyrleader
The position of Weyrleader still exists, and the day-to-day operation of the wings is much the same as it was previously. The only real difference is in how the Weyrleader is decided. The Weyrleader is no longer simply the rider of a bronze who was lucky enough to win a flight; now the Weyrleader is elected by his fellow riders. So far, all elected Weyrleaders have been bronze-riding wingleaders, although a few wingseconds have also put themselves up for election. It is not strictly necessary for the nominee to hold a rank though; technically any rider of any dragon can nominate themselves as candidates for Weyrleader. In the future more drastic changes in leadership may even appear.
Wingsecond
Traditionally browns or younger bronzes, there are two wingseconds to a wing, chosen by the wingleader, and they function as the wingleader's lieutenants. The issue of rank has become much murkier lately with the introduction of new colors, however. It's definitely possible for an onyxrider to become a wingsecond, and there are riders of other colors hopeful that they'll have a shot as well. You never know until you try!
Headwoman/Steward
The headwoman (or steward if a man) is responsible for the non-rider population of the Weyr. They assist the weyrwoman (or Rising Tides riders) in tracking inventories, tithes, candidates and children, food supplies, and the like.
