Alietran Weyr

Alietran Weyr is located on the Southern Continent, but far enough south that the weather is more temperate than tropical, and it has four distinct seasons. It is based in a low, hilly area and makes use of an extensive natural cave system, though weyrs for the dragons still had to be carved out and enlarged. There is a lake just outside the Weyrbowl where the dragons can go to bathe; it is fed by a river that continues on down to the sea.
The area around the Weyr is heavily forested and also makes good farmland, so naturally several sizable holds have been founded as well, who tithe to Alietran:
Alietran Hold: Alietran Hold is closest to the Weyr itself. It was founded shortly after Alietran Weyr, by relatives of the dragonriders, and even today, the Holding family is proud that they can trace their line back to dragonriders. The Hold is surrounded by forests and its holders have discovered several nearby ore deposits as well, so they specialize mostly in lumber and mining.
Torrel Hold: The oldest Hold beholden to Alietran, it is located in the middle of rich farmland and aside from raising crops and livestock, the hold also attracts people who enjoy luxury and comfort, as well as skilled craftsmen such as harpers and healers.
Arnus Hold: Arnus is a center of trade, as it is located on the shore of a sizable lake and is close to several rivers. They export a lot of fish, but crafters of just about any trade can find a use for their services there.
